One of the most common questions we hear from people is “will a robot vacuum fall down the
stairs?” The answer depends on the type of staircase you have, the condition of the carpet, and
the type of flooring.
If the stairs are dark, the robot will not be able to detect them and may fall. The sensors can also be covered, which will prevent the robot from detecting stairs, and may even cause it to fall down the stairs. If you want to avoid this scenario, you can install physical or virtual barriers on the stairway.
The robot vacuum can be programmed to avoid stairs, but it has a higher risk of falling down
them. You can install a Virtual Wall near the stairs to make it impossible for the robot to fall down
the stairs.
But you must ensure that the carpet is not very rough, as this can interfere with the sensors. If you don’t have a staircase, you can place a barrier over the sensor, but the robot will still fall down the stairs.
